Tianjin University Wins 10 National Teaching Achievement Awards

The Ministry of Education of China announced the winners of the National Teaching Achievement Awards. Tianjin University (TJU) won 10 awards, of which two were first prizes and eight were second prizes. Concerning the projects led by TJU, statistics show that TJU ranks seventh in terms of the total number of awards while it ranks second with regard to the number of first prizes among all universities.

The National Teaching Achievement Awards are assessed every four years in fundamental, vocational and higher education. As the signal light of higher education reform, the National Teaching Achievement Awards offer opportunities to all universities to display their strengths.

The two first prize projects from TJU included a project on the reform and practice of engineering education towards Emerging Engineering Education by a President Zhong Denghua-led team, and a project on comprehensive reform research and practice of China’s higher education of chemical engineering by an Academician Wang Jingkang-led team. The second prize projects included a project on deepening reform of national pilot schools and improving talent training in engineering innovation by a Party Secretary Li Jiajun-led team, a project on exploration and practice of personnel training in practical mechanics with cross-over programs and integration of strengths by a Professor Wang Tianyou-led team, a project on the construction of a first-class international pharmaceutical talent training system with a pilot of an international demonstration school by a Professor Jay Siegel-led team, a project on the construction and practice of engineering leading talent training systems led by Professor Yu Jianxing, and a project on comprehensive reform exploration and practice of quality-oriented postgraduate education by a Vice Party Secretary Zhao Meirong-led team. In addition, three other projects by Tianjin University in collaboration with other universities won second prizes.
