Key Scientific Research Base of Historic Building Survey and Recording (Tianjin University)

 

The Key Scientific Research Base of Historic Building Survey and Recording (Tianjin University), State Administration of Cultural Heritage (RBHBSR), approved to be founded in February 2008 by State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH), is one of the first bases of this kind in China. It is affiliated to Tianjin University and organized by Tianjin Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage.

Inherited the tradition of measured survey of historic buildings in School of Architecture over 70 years, the RBHBSR is based on a cross-disciplinal cooperation among excellent research teams of eight research fields from School of Architecture, School of Civil Engineer, School of Computer Science and Technology, with 35 researchers.

Developing objectives: to build, improve and fulfill a heritage recording and research system with Chinese characteristics, and to realize the authenticity, integration, continuity, ease of use and standardization of the recording of historic buildings, so as to satisfy the needs of cultural heritage conservation and keep in the academic and technological frontier.

Main research interests: working system of heritage recording, application and development of recording and measured survey technology, recording historic buildings of different periods and areas, standardization of heritage recording, information management of historic buildings.

Development vision: 1) studying the strategy of “informatization surveying and mapping” for historic buildings; 2) developing technology of informatization surveying and mapping for historic buildings; 3) editing “recording guidelines” for historic buildings of different types, areas, periods; and 4) promoting the application and spreading of technological achievements.
