In 2010, approved by the Ministry of Education, Tianjin University founded the Key Laboratory on Mechanism Theory and Equipment Design. This Laboratory, based on the Mechanical Design and Theory Discipline of Tianjin University—a state key discipline and mechanical engineering discipline—a level 1 discipline, international discipline frontier-oriented, focusing on the national and regional industrial development strategic demands such as manufacturing equipment, energy equipment, aerospace and marine engineering, is aimed at designing equipment independently. The Laboratory which is mechanical institution science frontier-oriented, with the support of modern design technology, has given the full play to the scientific research advantages and backbone role of the Mechanical Engineering Discipline of Tianjin University in large, complex equipment design and application; concerning the core issue of “Modern Mechanical Theory and Method”, combined with the modern mathematics and design technology, we have systematically carried out the research works on the basic theory of modern mechanism, design theory and method of service robots, high-end industrial equipment design and manufacturing technology, etc., combined with the large engineering demands of our country, settling the bottlenecks of designing the key equipment, providing a support platform for the independent designing of large-scale complex equipment.
