Unforgettable Memory of Dragon Boat Festival

During the Dragon Boat Festival, Tianjin University prepared over 60,000 zongzi,sticky rice dumplings wrapped up with bamboo or reed leaves, for all faculty and students, and hold a series of folklore activities such as zongzi - wrapping,making hand-woven colorful ropes and sachets, among others.In the fragrance of sweet zongzi, faculty and students celebrated the festival with joy.

On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival at each canteen of Tianjin University, every faculty and student received two zongzi from the smiling staff at the door, and behind them there were "sweet hills" made of hundreds of zongzi. Tianjin University has prepared over 60,000 zongzi in the canteens of the two campuses for all facultyand students for free. There werevarious flavors to choose from.

In the classroom and dormitory areas, the University has arranged various folk activities of the Dragon Boat Festival. Thousands of faculty and students participated with great interest. The washed glutinous rice, soaked reed leaves and candied jujubes were placed on the table. The students wrapped up a lot of zongzi, laughing and talking.

“I heard that our school organized the activity of weaving five-color ropes. And we came here an hour early towait for it!" Said student Wang, a 2018 undergraduate of the College of Intelligence and Computing. 

Student Wang and her classmates wove with 150-meter colored ropes, showing their creativity and ingenuity. Everyone made their own souvenirs of a beautiful colorful rope and exquisite sachet. 

To Xiao Wang's surprise, when she returned to the dormitory, the dorm staff also gave her Chinese mugwort leaves and bracelets as gifts to celebrate the festival. “I'm about to graduate and leave school soon. These will be a beautiful memory of my college days!”
