Faculty and Students Singing “My Motherland and I” on CCTV MV

 Campus

“My Motherland and I cannot be parted,

no matter where I go,

I sing the same tune.”

For 2019 has just started

New China’s 70th birthday it brings

This university spans three centuries,

Generations of TJU people

Have seen many Spring flowers and Autumn leaves

Let our inner zeal form a world class University

In every song impart the spirit of patriotism

our sincerest blessing for our land and sea

our pride and idealism

Our love of our Motherland for all to see!

The MV of “My Motherland and I” was launched by CCTV.

In it there is a scene of TJU MV,

Sung by TJU faculty and students, representing all universities around China.

At Tianjin University,

With the TJU’s anthem and a show of unmanned aerial vehicles,

Students flowed into the Peiyang Square

Singing “My Motherland and I”

“My motherland and I cannot be apart,

no matter where I go, I sing the same tune.

“I sing o’er every mountain, every stream,

Curling smoke

Of the small villages

And the tracks on the road.

“My beloved motherland,

I always cling to your heart,

Listening to you.

My motherland and I,

Are like the sea and spray

The spray is relying on the sea,

like its child.

Whenever the sea smiles,

I am her whirlpool

I share her sorrow and her joy.

My beloved motherland always offering

blue and clear waters

And the songs to sing,

for us her sons and daughters.”

The students there shared their feelings.

“Our motherland is the reason why each Chinese can hold our heads high with a confident smile, no matter where we’re in the world.” – Xue Yang from the College of Management and Economics.

“Since coming here, I’ve been deeply immersed in TJU people’s patriotism and devotion. I hope the spirit can be carried on.” – Li Haotian from the School of Electrical and Information Engineering

“We have heard many patriotic comments, but I think that as a youth in the new era, I shall have my own interpretation of patriotism, which is to have something to follow and stick to with courage and enthusiasm. Today I feel the true enthusiasm of TJU here.” – Yi Baojin from the School of Architecture

“When singing the song with others, I feel quite excited. I hope in the future, we’ll have many chances, gathering, and cheerfully singing, to extol the virtues of our motherland.” – Ai Zezi from the College of Management and Economics
