Recently, the thirteenth Tianjin Youth Science and Technology Award Ceremony was held in Tianjin auditorium. Twenty-one people in Tianjin won Tianjin Youth Science and Technology Awards. Ten people won Tianjin Youth Science and Technology Award nominations. Among them, six people from Tianjin University, Gong Jinlong of the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Jiang Junfeng of the School of Precision Instrument and Opto-electronics Engineering, Chen Yan of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Hu Qinghua of the School of Computer Science and Technology, Zhong Shiquan of the College of Management and Economics, Xu Lianyong of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, won Tianjin Youth Science and Technology Awards. In addition, Wu Bin of the School of Precision Instrument and Opto-electronics Engineering from Tianjin University won the China Youth Science and Technology Award. Tianjin University is one of the units that had the largest number of award winners in the city.

Participants in the award ceremony included: Yin Demin, the member of the Standing Committee of Tianjin Municipal Committee of the CPC and Director of the Organization Department of Tianjin Municipal Committee of the CPC, Gou Lijun, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Tianjin, He Shushan, deputy mayor of Tianjin, Chen Yongchuan, Rao Zihe, Wang Jingkang, Liu Changxiao, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering in Tianjin. These people also gave out the prizes to the winners.

At the awards ceremony, Wang Jingkang, the chairman of the thirteenth Tianjin Youth Science and Technology Award Prize Committee, and Rao Zihe, the president of Tianjin Science and Technology Association, put forward their sincere hopes.

Yin Demin, the member of the Standing Committee of Tianjin Municipal Committee of the CPC and the minister of the Organization Department of Tianjin Municipal Committee of the CPC, made an important speech. He pointed out that scientific workers are the main forces of scientific and technological innovation, that youth scientific workers are the most creative group and that we should further study and implement the spirit of general secretary Xi Jingpin’s series of important announcements and the spirit of National Scientific Meeting, undertake the important responsibility bravely, dare to explore the requirements of Ninth Plenary Session of the 10th Municipal Party Committee and take the lead in the progress of accelerating the construction of innovative of city and industrial innovation centers.

Tianjin Youth Science and Technology Award is an important award on scientific and technological work, which was jointly set up by the Organization Department of Tianjin Municipal Committee of the CPC, Tianjin Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and Tianjin Science and Technology Association. This award is awarded every two years and aimed at cultivating some academic and technical youth leaders to enter the world technological frontier and praise and reward the young scientific talent that have made outstanding contributions in National or in Tianjin's economic and social progress or scientific and technological innovation.
