Tianjin University Wins Twenty-Seven Tianjin Science and Technology Awards

 

On February 23, 2016, the meeting of Tianjin Science and Technology Awards was held. Huang Xingguo, the acting party secretary of Tianjin municipal party committee and the mayor of Tianjin municipality attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The deputy mayor, He Shushan, announced the reward list. There are 199 achievements won at the Tianjin Science and Technology Awards in 2015. Tianjin municipal officials issued the certificates to the delegations.  

Twenty-seven achievements from Tianjin University won the Tianjin Science and Technology Awards, including seven first awards, five second awards and five third awards. Tianjin University ranked the top in terms of the number of first awards and total awards.

In 2015, there are four Tianjin Science and Technological Invention first Awards, and Tianjin University won three of them. These three projects are “Calculation for shield cutter load and the research on cutting tool condition monitoring technology and application” by Professor Kang Yilan from the School of Mechanical Engineering, “Functionalization, composite key technologies and energy storage application of carbon materials” by Professor Feng Wei from the School of Materials Science and Engineering and “Key technology and application of underwater glider” by  Professor Wang Shuxin from the School of Mechanical Engineering.  

As the development of infrastructure, national defense and energy conservation and discharge reduction strategy, China has become the highest demand country in shield construction area. The project of “Calculation for shield cutter load and the research on cutting tool condition monitoring technology and application” optimized two significant problems in shield construction area, part of the works were applied in underground transit line projects in Beijing, Tianjin and Xian.

Carbon materials gained a broad field of application with good prospects in new energy technologies, the development of carbon composite materials and key technologies satisfied the national major strategic demand. The project of “Functionalization, key composite technologies and energy storage application of carbon materials” carried out the research of molecular compounds of carbon materials and key technologies of controllable fluoride, produced high energy and high stability storage materials.

The project of “Key technology and application of underwater glider” successfully developed the underground glider with independent intellectual property rights. The achievement was awarded as one of the top ten oceanographic scientific achievements in 2014; it was also applied in national major “South-to-North Water Transfer Project” for major marine scientific research and national defense, including water quality monitoring of water sources and observations on environmental quality in South China Sea.

The project of “Synthesis of opto-electro functional materials by long pulse width laser” led by Professor Du Xiwen from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Tianjin University won the Tianjin Nature Science first Award. This scientific research achievement includes the following: 1. Established the new method of top-down controlled synthesis of nano-colloidal crystals; 2. Realized the controlled synthesis of high quality nanomaterial following top-down strategy; 3. Further established new materials system and device structures.  

The project of “Study on the production and application of premium edible alcohol” by Professor Zhang Minhua from the Petrochemical Technology Center, “Key technologies of high performance organic photoconductive materials and industrialization of automatic drum” by Professor Li Xianggao from the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology and the “Assessment and protection technique on deep water pipelines buckling behavior” by Professor Yu Jianxing from the School of Civil Engineering won the Tianjin Science and Technology Progress first Awards.

The project of “Study on the production and application of premium edible alcohol” studied improved technologies and methods in chemical industry, and established the first 14,000,000 Tons /year production equipment in China. This project promoted national alcohol production technology and improved the quality of products, achieved significant improvement in social effects and economic returns.

The Project of “Key technologies of high performance organic photoconductive materials and industrialization of automatic drum” simplified the productive process of photoconductive material, improved the production environment, lowered the production and discharge of acid waste waters, reduced the cost of products, and promoted the improvement of organic photoconductive and sustainable development.

In order to satisfy the urgent demand of national deep-water oil and gas engineering construction, the project of “Assessment and protection technique on deep water pipelines buckling behavior” solved two core problems and developed independent intellectual technology and productivity. International peer reviewers commended this technology as “advanced international standards”, and the cumulative savings was 598 million Yuan in the recent three years. This achievement will be applied on monitoring the deep-sea underwater devices in major deep-water oil and gas construction projects in East China Sea, South China Sea and purchased international marine areas (such as in West African). Meanwhile, it will benefit the valuation of construction project and promote the deep-sea construction to move forward to the global market.
