Li Zhiyuan is always forging ahead towards his goal of each stage of life. Wherever he arrives is the beginning of his next wonderful stage, "I am always on the road to pursue my dream.”

From the moment he learned that Tianjin University is the first modern university in China, Tianjin University has become his dream university. While after the college entrance examination, he failed to be admitted to Tianjin University. He had to go to another university for his undergraduate study.

However, he never gave up his dream. His excellent academic performance and competition experience allowed him to successfully obtain the postgraduate recommendation to Tianjin University. In addition, he successfully obtained the qualification of being recommended to study for a doctorate without examination. He did it and became a graduate student into Professor Liu Tiegen' research group. He chose his research field of optical fiber sensing, which he has always been interested in, and finally realized his dream.

In the past five years of study at Tianjin University, Li Zhiyuan has "plunged" into the field of optical fiber sensing under the guidance of his supervisor, and has obtained 1 patent and published 16 articles. He is first authors of 7 articles, including 4 SCI papers (Optics and Lasers in Engineering, IEEE Sensors Journal, Optics Letters, etc.) and 3 EI conference papers. He made academic reports on OFS and other international conferences.

In addition to research, Li Zhiyuan has been actively participating in various activities and competitions during his doctoral studies. Together with his team, he won the silver medal in the Tianjin finals and the national finals in the 6th China International College Students' "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. In the 9th China International College Students' "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, he won gold medal of first prize in Tianjin. He participated in the 2023 National Academic League for Doctoral Students in Optics and Optical Engineering, and won the first prize (first place) in the North China Division and the top 100 nationally.

Looking back on his study and research at Tianjin University, Li Zhiyuan said: "I have achieved significant growth here at Tianjin University.
