Volunteers Participate in Activity for Children of the Stars

 Campus

April 2 in 2024 marks the 17th World Autism Awareness Day. On April 1, nearly 20 young volunteers of the Tianjin University Youth Volunteer Association participated in a public service of cycling organized by the Shared Value Social Service in Heping District together with Tianjin Hisense Square.

Volunteers set off from Hisense Square and embarked on a cycling journey to spread the concept of caring for autism, promote and encourage people to approach the autism community, and help eliminate prejudice and misunderstanding against them. Encouragingly, the event triggered attention and reflection among the public.

Children with autism, a complex neurodevelopmental disorder, are known as "children of the stars". They are not good at communicating with others and always immerse themselves in their own inner world. Instead of being treated as outcasts, they just require more understanding and care from others.

In an echo of this year’s theme of the Autism Awareness Day—Awareness, Acceptance, Appreciation:Moving from Surviving to Thriving, let's transmit love and care to these stars and build an inclusive and diverse society where their lights can be more widely seen.
