Tianjin University Delegation Visits Universities in Hungary and Poland

From December 14 to 18, Professor Hu Wenping, Executive Vice President, led a delegation of Tianjin University to Hungary and Poland. The delegation visited the University of Szeged and Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary; and the University of Warsaw and the Embassy of China in Poland.

On December 15, the delegation visited the University of Szeged (SZTE), where they were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Márta Széll, Vice-Rector for Strategic Planning, Prof. Dr. Péter Zakar, Vice-Rector for International and Public Relations, Dr. Tamás Bene, Director for International Affairs and Public Relations and colleagues from the Office for International Cooperation and Admission, Dr. Előd Sándor Szabó, head of Office and Rebeka Fodor-Kozma, International Expert.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Péter Zakar and Prof. Dr. Márta Széll highlighted the importance of international relations, and Chinese relations are especially important for the University of Szeged. The management of SZTE emphasized their intention to cooperate in the future. The two universities intend to start the cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding in the near future.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), where they met with Prof. Dr. László ZENTAI, Vice-Rector for Education and Eszter Knyihár, head of the International Strategy Office. Prof. ZENTAI extended a hearty welcome and shared insights into Eötvös Loránd University's history and its collaborations with Chinese universities and colleges. The two universities agreed to establish a collaborative partnership focusing on faculty and student exchanges and scientific research. Both parties signed an inter-university cooperation agreement.

On December 16, the delegation delivered a development report of Tianjin University at Wekerle Business School, drawing over 70 young scholars. Chen Kun, the Educational Advisor at the Embassy of China in Hungary, delivered a speech at the event.

On the morning of December 18, the delegation visited the University of Warsaw. Representatives of the University including Prof. Sambor Grucza, Vice-Rector met with the delegation. Both universities expressed willingness to collaborate in fields like heritage conservation, linguistics, computer science, and science, aiming to leverage the China-Poland Belt and Road initiative and joint graduate programs. An inter-university cooperation agreement was signed during the meeting.

Afterwards, the delegation met with Ambassador Sun Linjiang and Yi Jun, Educational Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Poland. Both parties discussed enhancing cooperation between Tianjin University and Central and Eastern European universities.
