From August 29-30, the North Division Competition of the China University Students Sunshine Sports Table Tennis Competition was held in Harbin. Tianjin University team won the first prize, ranking fourth place among the first prize winners.
Tianjin University team is led by Ms. Zhu Yuling, team leader and table tennis world champion, Ms. Mu Jingyu, coach and former member of China's national table tennis team, and doctoral student Zhang Yaowen, Tianjin University table tennis team captain. The team is made up of six students, including Cheng Rui and Zhang Xinyi from the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Zhao Xudong and Wang Yiman from the College of Management and Economics, Wei Qiwen from the School of Civil Engineering, and Liu Keyan from the School of Architecture.

Wei Qiwen began to receive table tennis training when he was a child. As he grew older, he was busy with his studies. Table tennis gradually faded out from his life until he came to Tianjin University and experienced such a strong table tennis atmosphere. At Tianjin University, he regained his confidence in table tennis. He felt fortunate to be selected for this competition, which rekindled his passion on the field.
Wei Qiwen said: “Everyone did their best in this competition. Although our competitive level is not the strongest, we can still turn around against the disadvantageous situation. This not only thanks to the efforts of all players, but also to the personal guidance of our world-class coaches. They guided us to play at our best level. In this game, all players showcased Tianjin University’s character and appreciated the brilliance of sports at Tianjin University!”
