Adorable Ducks Become New Favorites on Campus

Tianjin University welcomed new residents on lakes recently. 20 Call Ducks, one popular kind of small duck that is sociable, tame, and mainly raised now as a pet domestically, and 44 mallard ducks settled down on Weijin Road Campus. Since these lovely creatures appeared, numerous students would gather along Jingye Lake every day to watch them excitedly, making the adorable ducks the new favorites at TJU.

“My friends all like to post pictures of those attractive ducks on their Wechat Moments,” said one of the 2020 students of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, “they are indeed eye-catchers!” Another interviewee, a 2019 postgraduate from the School of Architecture, expressed that girls like her definitely had a soft spot for those ducks, and she would be in a good mood at a glimpse of the cuties. “The ducks are just so sweet! How nice our school is!” she said.

As honored as “National Civilized Campus”, TJU has stepped up efforts to landscape and refine both campuses so as to build a better home for TJU faculty and students.

Relevant moves include trimming trees and lawns, removing out-of-season equipment, installing bamboo fences, maintaining broken facilities, beautifying old sights, as well as renovating and adding a batch of parking spaces, all for fulfilling the need of each TJU people with the ever-improving campus atmosphere. 

In March this year, TJU issued a “Proposal on Beautiful Campus Promotion Plan” to motivate all faculty and students, resulting in 190 free-ranging ducks being released into lakes on two campuses.
