Intl Summer Program on Internal Combustion Engine Launched

Tianjin University held the 12th International Summer Program on Internal Combustion Engine online from August 5 to 11, 2021. Seven top experts from world-renowned universities and research institutes such as the University of New South Wales (Australia), Toyota Motor R & D Center Co., Ltd. (China), Tianjin University (China), AVL (Austria), FEV (Germany), IAV (Germany) and Brunel University (UK) were invited togive lectures to thefaculty and students, as well as technicians from enterprises and research institutes at home and abroad for free.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Wang Tianyou, Executive Director of the State Key Laboratory of Engines and Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Tianjin University. Nearly 300 people from universities, enterprises and research institutes at home and abroad attended the ceremony. Vice President Hu Wenping of Tianjin Unversity delivered a welcoming speech, saying that the program provided valuable opportunities for postgraduates, young teachers and engineering technicians from universities, research institutes and enterprises all over the world to communicate with top international experts, and exerted significant impact on the discipline and the internal combustion engine industry.

This summer class began with a lecture entitled "Dual-fuel hydrogen engine technologies for marine propulsion and power generation" by Professor Shawn Kook from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Professor Shawn Kook introduced the basic theory of hydrogen-diesel direct injection hydrogen engine (H2DDI) as a low-cost and easy-to-implement carbon neutral fuel.
