TJU Formula Team Releases New Car, Haoyue 13

 Research

Haoyue 13, a new formula car developed by Tianjin University’s formula team Peiyang Power, made its debut on the morning of September 26, 2021. The new racing, carrying the hard work and dedication from the whole team of nearly 30 undergraduate students, will compete in the coming Formula Students Combustion China (FSCC) this November.

Haoyue 13 measures 3025 mm in length, 1400 mm in width and 1194 mm in height, with the wheelbase reaching 1541 mm and its curb weight 240 kg. Equipped with a four-cylinder race engine and limited slip differential, the car has shortened the time of acceleration to 100km/h in less than 6 seconds. It can produce more than 300N downforce at the speed of 70 km/h, as the whole car adopts carbon fiber cover with the front wing and tail wing of high resistance design. The front and rear suspensions are of double wishbone type, which makes its lateral acceleration 1.5 times the gravity acceleration at most when cornering. The fully wrapped seat made of carbon fiber, with a six-point seat belt, can effectively ensure the driver's safety. Therefore, compared with the previous models, this new car features better performance and higher safety level.

After the new car release comes the signing ceremony of cooperation between Peiyang Power and Atomrobot, a robot company, whose founder is the first captain of Peiyang Power.

Peiyang Power has participated in FSCC for 12 consecutive years. Next year, the team will set up an electric vehicle division to compete in the international arena.
