【Class 2025】TJU Move-in days: Youngest freshman at 15

 Campus

More than 4,000 freshmen have began to arrive on campus since August 25. Among them, the youngest is Wang Lipei, who was born in June 2006 and only 15 years old.

Wang Lipei from Handan, Hebei Province, scored 639 points in this year's college entrance exam and was admitted to the Intelligent Manufacturing and Construction discipline. She came from a small village and both her parents are farmers. She started elementary school at the age of four and later skipped a grade because of her excellent performance. That’s why she became the youngest student in the class of 2025.

A slightly childish face distinguishes Wang Lipei from her classmates. When asked about the impact of her younger age on study and life, Wang Lipei said: "I’m very grateful to my teachers and classmates in the high school for not lowering requirements on my study because of my young age, but giving me more care and help in life so that I can move forward with confidence and courage."

She further noted that being young not necessarily meant being a genius. In her opinion, the key to success is concentration and a "stable mind". "I am willing to spend more time thinking independently," she said, "I prefer to think about the logic behind a question rather than ask others for answers. It is my way to exercise my mind."

For a youngster at her age, Wang Lipei showed extraordinary sense of assurance. She would feel distressed when she was not at her best in study, but most of the time, Wang said that she was able to adjust herself in time and get better prepared for further study.. "When I was preparing for the college entrance exam. The closer it was to the examination days, the calmer and more assured I became. Instead of fidgeting about score disparity between me and other students, I paid more attention to finding my deficiency in knowledge.”

Wang Lipei was quite excited about being admitted into Tianjin University. "Tianjin University is the first modern university in China and has cultivated a lot of talents for our country. It seems to me that the university possesses a reserved and rigorous traits that are quite appealing to me."

Wang Lipei has laid out a plan for her college life, "I will strive for academic excellence so as to gain the recommendation for graduate study, and participate as many social practices as possible to widen my horizons."
