Wang as a dauntless researcher

Wang has been aspiring to energize the nation with scientific researches. When he determined to delve into “bionic camouflage covert underwater acoustic communication”, his tutor warned him of possible unexpected obstacles due to inadequate domestic researches though it has become an International research hot spot. After carefully considering the application prospect of the technology and its importance to national development, Wang made up his mind and became a pioneer of this field.

The research group was composed of two members-Wang and his tutor Jiang Jiajia, an associate professor, at its inception in 2015. To acquire detailed experimental data, Wang spent a lot of time by watersides, living in a tent and often suffering from penetrating cold at nights in early spring and scorching heat in mid-summer. His research work was not all plain sailing. In the first three years, Wang went through many rejections in both paper submission and project application. Nevertheless, he held on to his research.

The year 2018 saw his team eventually make a breakthrough and develop an innovative prototype. In the same year, three projects they applied were approved, with the amount of research funds totaling 1.3 billion yuan. His unswerving exploration and study has brought the publication of 21 academic papers, one of which was the world’s first paper related to this technology available on a top journal in the field of communication. More than 100 international media, including Science and Technology Daily and South China Morning Post, have reported this milestone progress. What is more, Wang Xianquan has applied for 12 invention patents with 1 authorized, taken an active part in academic meetings at home and abroad, and attended the China Marine Economy Expo on behalf of Tianjin.
