Young Math Scholars Reap Big in NSFC Application

In 2020, 16 projects led by scholars from the School of Mathematics were approved by the National Natural Science foundation of China (NSFC), including 4 projects of the Young Scientists Fund and 12 general programs.

In 2018, two projects led by Prof. Sun Xiaotao and Prof. Wang Fengyu were approved as key projects respectively by NSFC. In 2019, the Center for Applied Mathematics of Tianjin became one of the first batch of institutions qualified to build the National Center for Applied Mathematics approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Peoples’ Republic of China.

In recent years, the School of Mathematics has sought reforms in various aspects so as to strengthen its discipline, including personnel system reform, research platform building and academic-favorable atmosphere fostering. Teachers are encouraged to conduct high-quality researches diligently and dig deeper into fundamental researches.
