Dear New International Students：

Welcome to Tianjin University! Your enrollment has injected energy and vitality into this century-old institution. Tianjin University, founded on October 2nd, 1895 as Peiyang University, is the first modern university in China and the forerunner of higher education in modern China. Looking back on the journey of one hundred and twenty five years, Tianjin University has been the trailblazer in many aspects, creating the first aircraft engine, the first cyclotron, the first offshore oil platform etc. of China. We hope you could bear in mind the university’s  motto of “Seeking Truth from Facts”, stay committed to future development, strive for excellence and forge ahead with courage, so as to become bridges of exchanges linking two civilizations and contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

The year of 2020 is destined to be unusual, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the world. The Chinese government attaches great importance to epidemic prevention and control to ensure the safety and health of students. Tianjin University has also been paying close attention to policies of General Administration of Customs and you will be notified should there be any update. We hope you would understand the necessary measures taken and cooperate with the prevention and control work of the university. Students outside China are supposed to strictly abide by the local epidemic prevention regulations and avoid unnecessary travel. We kindly remind you of the following:

For students in China, please follow the instructions of your colleges and schools as well as that of your supervisor to actively participate in offline course study and carry out scientific research. You should maintain self-protection against the pandemic and avoid inter-city movement and gatherings. If you plan to leave your current place of residence and travel to another country or city, please make sure you report to your assigned teacher in advance.

For students outside China, please take the initiative to maintain effective communication and contact with your colleges and supervisor, and arrange online courses study and scientific research as required. You shall not travel internationally, nor return to the university until you receive the formal notice from the university. We hope that all international students and your family members will continue to do a good job of self-protection during the outbreak. Should there be any difficulty, please contact the teachers immediately and we will try our best to help you.

In the near future, you will been dowed with beautiful memories at Tianjin University, for the Qingnian Lake, aesthetic library, internet-famous canteen, laboratory, and stadium are all places to enjoy the campus life. We hope that every student will devoted to academic learning and create a wonderful life.
