On the morning of September 12th, Tianjin University's Welcoming Ceremony on Peiyang Park Campus was held at the North Stadium, Peiyangyuan Campus. Tianjin University (TJU) Party Secretary Li Jiajun, President Jin Donghan, and other leaders and representatives of teachers attended the ceremony to welcome more than 5,000 newly admitted undergraduates and postgraduates from various schools on Peiyang Park Campus.

This year's welcoming ceremony would be divided into two sessions: one in the morning on Peiyang Park Campus, and the other in the afternoon on Weijin Road Campus, which would be broadcast simultaneously through People’s Daily client, CCTV News, TJU official account in Weibo, Kwai and other platforms. In total, Tianjin University welcomed over 10,000 newcomers this year.

The Welcoming Ceremony opened with the loud national anthem. President Jin Donghan delivered a speech at the ceremony, sending expectations and blessings to the new students. Professor Yan Guangfen, the Dean of the School of Education, and Zhao Danning, a 2019 graduate student, spoke on behalf of the teachers and students respectively to welcome the new students. Tan Jianing, a 2020 undergraduate student majoring in Chemical Energy and Life Medicine from the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, delivered a speech as a representative of the first-year students. Wearing a TJU emblem, he expressed his aspirations for the country. All teachers and students attending the ceremony sang the Tianjin University Anthem and showed their sincere expectation to make TJU a distinguished university in the world.
