On July 16, 2020, the Government of Tianjin Binhai New Area and Tianjin University signed an Agreement of Deepening Strategic Framework of Cooperation.

Both parties will build new research and development institutions jointly, carrying out communications and training of talents at a high level. Through integrating advantageous resources, both parties will improve medical care and promote industrial development. Besides, both parties will deepen cooperation in other aspects of common development.

Representatives of the Tianjin Government, Binhai New Area Government and leaders of Tianjin University attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Yuan Yingjin, vice president of Tianjin University, and Xia Qinglin, deputy head of Binhai New Area, signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of the two sides.

Party Secretary of Binhai New Area Lian Maojun said at the meeting that Tianjin University has a profound teaching and research heritage and produced a large number of high-quality scientific and technological innovation achievements. He hoped that on the basis of this agreement, both parties could further expand cooperation space, enhance cooperation efficiency, and promote common development.

TJU Party Secretary Li Jiajun said that for many years, Tianjin University and Binhai New Area have maintained close cooperation and have achieved fruitful results in realizing enterprise-university-research institute cooperation. Relying on such platforms as Tianjin University Binhai Industrial Research Institute and taking the signing of this agreement as an opportunity, Tianjin University will give full play to the advantages of talents and technology, gather high-quality resources, solidly promote district-school cooperation, to promote the high-quality development of Binhai New Area.

According to the agreement, two parties will give full play to their respective advantages, jointly build a world-class university and key disciplines. Relying on the high-quality medical resources of the Binhai New Area, two parties will build a new platform for district-school collaboration and medical education integration, and deepen all-round strategic cooperation in the medical and health field. Besides, the two parties will deepen the enterprise-university-research institute cooperation in the fields of marine economy and the new chemical materials industry. Tianjin University will gather resources from alumni at home and abroad to help the economic transformation and upgrading of the new district.

TJU Party Secretary Li Jiajun and President Jin Donghan also visited the National Supercomputer Center, Tianjin TEDA Hospital, and Smart Binhai Operation and Management Center at Binhai New Area.
