A few days ago, Xu Deqing, the overseas representative of CPPCC, visiting professor at Tianjin University, visiting researcher at the Department of Electrical Engineering of Yale University, and TJU’s class of 1983 graduate, shared suggestions for the university’s internationalization.

As an alumnus of Tianjin University, Xu always cares about the school's development and has felt proud of the school's achievements. He mentioned that he had studied President Jin Donghan's article published in Tianjin University Journal earlier this year, which is a good analysis and guidance on the school's current situation and future development.

In Xu’s view, Tianjin University can take the 125th anniversary as an opportunity to “look forward to the future” with a celebration theme of a more international vision, to echo the “Community of Common Destiny for All Mankind” advocated by the Chinese government.

Xu said that the key to international construction lies in faculty, students, disciplinary construction, alumni, international cooperation and interconnection. He suggested that the school should focus on the disciplinary construction and direction, introduce and cultivate a group of world-class international faculty. Focus on teaching and form an international talent training system and the development of academic skills by cooperating with overseas universities. Build Internet Plus international education and cooperation, and give full play to the resources and functions of the overseas alumni.

Xu suggested that the school’s international construction should take the 125th anniversary as a new starting point. We should integrate the strengths of all people to push forward the internationalization with new idea and new methods, so as to promote our school to become the world first-class university.
