Tianjin University Upgrades Emerging Engineering Education Innovation

 Campus

On June 15, Tianjin University released a renewed version of its Coherent-Collaborative-Interdisciplinary-Innovation (CCII), a strategy plan to promote emerging engineering education (3E for short).

The so-called Plan 2.0 aims to build a sound systematic platform for 3E, optimize teaching and education designs, establish a new quality management system and nurture a suitable 3E environment.

New schools and colleges that meet the demands of future technology and industry development will be built to foster an open and interdisciplinary education for students. The university, schools and research institutes at home and abroad will join hands with the society and industries in talent cultivation.

Students will be tutored by a group of mentors including professors, business holders, life counselors and even senior students to provide guidance combo in terms of academic research, course study, entrepreneurship building, psychological support and other difficulties students may encounter in life and study.

All labs and engineering centers are open to students and industries are involved to play an important part in education.

Project-based learning will be recommended in course design so as to enhance students' ability of creative design, problem solving, team work, project management and leadership.

Students highly competitive in study and research may enjoy a fast track of development under a Successive Bachelor/Master Cultivation Mode which enables them to choose to attend courses and classes they like regardless of their disciplines or learning identities as undergraduate students, or graduate or doctoral students.

TJU Plan 2.0 also attaches great importance to the learning environment and facilities. It is reported that smart classrooms and virtual simulation experiment teaching centers will be established to support the application of modern education technology. There will be more classrooms that are fit for team working and discussion, and special places are designed where students can carry out entrepreneurship study, research and practices.
