On June 1, Li Qing, Secretary of Xiqing District Party Committee led a delegation to visit Mr. Feng Jicai of Tianjin University, listening to Mr. Feng's suggestions on the construction of Yangliuqing National Grand Canal Cultural Park.

Tianjin University’s Party Secretary Li Jiajun and Deputy Party Secretary Lei Ming attended the meeting.

Huang Jingtao, Professor of the School of architecture of Tianjin University and General Planner of Yangliuqing National Grand Canal Cultural Park project and, reported the progress of the construction of the Park. The project innovatively adopted master work camp and international competition to invite top domestic and foreign experts and masters on planning, landscape, architecture, and culture and art , as well as urban operators to jointly build the demonstration area of the Yangliuqing National Grand Canal Cultural Park.

Li Qing said that the Yangliuqing National Grand Canal Cultural Park project was jointly initiated by the Xiqing District government and China Architecture Center. He hoped that Tianjin University and Mr. Feng Jicai can provide suggestions and support from such aspect as construction concept to protect, utilize and inherit the canal culture.

Mr. Feng Jicai pointed out that the Yangliuqing National Grand Canal Cultural Park project shows the human cultural heritage and excellent traditional Chinese culture. The layout construction should be carried out with a big-picture perspective, such as the perspective of the protection and utilization of the national historical and

cultural heritage. The construction of the Park should also reflect cultural heritage, canal culture and Yangliuqing's culture, and show historical development. Mr. Feng also made specific suggestions on museum's construction and cultural relics' collection.

Li Jiajun said that the construction of the Yangliuqing National Grand Canal Cultural Park is an innovative expression of the demonstration of cultural self-confidence and promotion of cultural construction. Tianjin University develops in-depth cultural heritage protection, and will make use of its academic and talent advantages to contribute to the construction of the Yangliuqing National Grand Canal Cultural Park.
