In 2019, Yan Yingchen was selected as one of the four Student Innovative Models of the College of Economics and Management. She was then a doctoral candidate studying Management Science and Engineering.
Yan is an innovative scholar.
During her doctoral study, she published 10 high-level academic papers on SCI-tech journals and SSCI journals as first or corresponding authors. All her papers are inJCR Q1 area and three of the them are deemed as Level 4 papers according toABS (the Association of Business School) standard.
She has won the Chinese national scholarship several times and other scholarships including Tianjin College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award and Outstanding Graduates of Tianjin University.
Yan has been invited to chairone session of the top international conference “2018 INFORMS International Conference Operations / Marketing Interface, and won Best Student Paper 2nd at the 2019 POMS International Conference.
Yan’s study wasn’t all smooth sailing. It did not go well at first. It took her three years to publish the first article in a journal after she began her doctoral study in 2014.
“The lag period of the article was very long, and the journal didn’t accept my paper even though I had revised it several times. I was very distressful back then and full of self-doubt,’ Yan said, recalling the past hard days. But she kept trying and finally successfully published her first article in the high-level journal by ABS standard in the field of economic management in 2017, which helped her win the national scholarship.
“It was like I was suddenly enlightened and got my feel for academic research,” Yan became very productive in the following two years, publishing 12 articles altogether on influential journals.
Based from her own experience, Yan advised young people to be courageous enough and try new things. “Brave the wind, fearing no failures and try out things that you are interested in”. It is the creed that she abides by not only in scientific research but also in her life.
“I like traveling and adventures very much. I believe we will find more possibilities in a wider world. It is also a way to go beyond oneself and find out who we truly are and what we truly want”, Yan traveled a lot and went toPurdue University, USA, for joint training from 2018 to 2019.
Yan Yingchen has been recruited into Beihang University in 2020 and will continue her academic dream there.
