During the Labor Day, Tianjin University launched the Tianjin University Labor Week, and organized students to actively participate in four activities called the “four ones” in Chinese. These activities are study, household labor, single-stage work collection, a labor education class, so as to strengthen the labor education of college students in the new era, and cultivate students to establish a proper work ethic.

"Let's move!" the monitor called on the students in class 2 of the School of Education admitted in 2019. The students responded quickly to do housework., During a break from housework, students also interact with their working partners through their mobile phones, thus conveying the happiness of labor, which was the special aspect of this year's Tianjin University Labor Week. All the students broadcast their home-based labor and “share” their working achievements via video connections. Jiang Yingxing, a Law School student who just participated in the online cleaning, said excitedly, "I not only did housework with my classmates, but we also encouraged each other, and commented on our achievements. It made me happy and it was very meaningful!"

Tianjin University’s counselors also participated in cleaning up students’ dormitory areas to set an example for students. During the cleaning process, the School of Civil Engineering launched a live webcast, in which the counselor acted as a labor skills instructor to explain the dormitory hygiene standards and sorting skills. More than a thousand students swarmed into the live broadcast to watch the lively reality labor class and gave thumbs up. "I was deeply affected by the teachers' labor enthusiasm and superb skills, so I quickly cleaned up my home. It was great to watch the live broadcast and learn how to clean! " said Yang Zewen, a student at the School of Civil Engineering.
Creating “micro works” to promote the labor theme
Students created numerous works such as melodious poems, exquisite posters and imaginative vlogs. In the activity of "praising labor and anti-epidemic", Tianjin University students depicted the workers’ charm in various industries and positions to explain the new era’s labor spirit and the theme of labor in their minds with nearly 200 original works. Guo Tinghua, an undergraduate of School of Electrical and Information Engineering, visited the staff of a nursing home and created a short video of the staff of the nursing home under the epidemic to pay homage to the workers and supporters outside the spotlight.

This activity was warmly received by the students. The various departments of Tianjin University publicized and displayed excellent works submitted by students through websites and WeChat official accounts. "Looking at the exhibition of labor works by students, I recall the touching stories of the workers around me, such as medical staff, police, community service personnel, and couriers, who bravely shoulder heavy responsibilities, and make outstanding contributions to the fight against the epidemic. " Yang Yunfan, a student of School of Science, said.
Setting up an extracurricular course to practice the working spirit

During the stay-at-home period, students actively cleaned up their homes and participated in the extracurricular course of labor education. In order to encourage students to fully participate in the labor practice and ensure over 32 school hours’ labor education courses at the undergraduate level, the Student Affairs Office of the Party committee, together with all schools (colleges), opened 20 labor education courses in the curriculum and credit system platform in extracurricular practical lessons, of which 8 courses were opened during the epidemic period, covering many kind of labor. It also encouraged students to “exchange” course credits with hard work. Students of School of Mechanical Engineering have punched in more than 1500 times in labor courses. "What is labor? Many people think that labor is tiring and bitter. In fact, it's just a camouflage for labor. Labor is sweet and happy! " Li Fengdi, a student of SEEA Tianjin University, wrote this passage in the final assignment of Housework and Practice class.
All the students of Tianjin University devoted themselves to voluntary work against epidemic in various forms.
In the extracurricular course, students could experience housework and productive labor based on physical labor, publicity scientific anti-epidemic prevention knowledge, provide voluntary tutoring for the children of medical staff, and actively participated in anti- epidemic public labor in their hometowns.
