Heroes from Tianjin University Affiliated Hospitals Return from Hubei

"To our heroes in white, Tianjin University is proud of you!"

On the afternoon of April 3, Tianjin University held a grand commendation meeting for the front-line healthcare workers fighting against the epidemic, paying high tribute to all medical staff in Affiliated Hospitals of Tianjin University. Leaders and medical staff attended the meeting from Tianjin University and its affiliated hospitals, Tianjin Haihe Hospital, Tianjin Children's Hospital, Tianjin Huanhu Hospital, Tianjin Hospital of ITCWM Nankai Hospital and Chest Hospital.

“Tianjin University Advanced Collectives in Epidemic Prevention and Control” was awarded to Tianjin University Hospital, Tianjin University Haihe Hospital, Tianjin University Children's Hospital, Tianjin University Huanhu Hospital, Nankai Hospital, and Tianjin University Chest Hospital for their dedication and contributions. The “Tianjin University Heroes in Harm’s Way in Epidemic Prevention and Control" commendation was granted to 110 health care staff of the affiliated hospitals in recognition of their solidarity and selfless service to the people during the height of the epidemic.

Mr. Cui Hongxiu, a well-known entrepreneur and graduate of Tianjin University 1962, who won the title of "Advanced Individual in Supporting Wenchuan Earth-stricken Area", donated 550,000 RMB as the condolence payment to the Medical College of Tianjin University through his Dahai Foundation, expressing his respect and gratitude to the front-line healthcare workers.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, a total of 110 medical personnel from Tianjin University’s affiliated hospitals were sent out to fight against the outbreak with the local medical workers in Hubei Province. In Haihe Hospital of Tianjin University, the "main battlefield of the epidemic" in Tianjin, medical staff spared no efforts to protect patients’ lives and became the vanguard and main force in combating the epidemic in Tianjin. Each affiliated hospital put forward to support Haihe Hospital, and together comformed the main medical treatment of the epidemic for patients in Tianjin.

After the meeting, Tianjin University held a meeting to report the deeds of the advanced figures of the affiliated hospitals, and invited representatives to share their stories of the fight against epidemic. All the teachers and students of Tianjin University watched this unique and solemn lesson on line.

"I'm very encouraged by the stories of Tianjin University students fighting against the outbreak," Wu Xiaona, a 2019 undergraduate majoring in medicine at Tianjin University, added, " I will take them as a personal example, and forge ahead bravely. Only in this way can I carry forward the sacred mission of these angels in white!"
