 Campus

"I'm in Jingzhou, Hubei. I'm well, please don’t worry about me." "I am in Shiyan, Hubei, I miss our school and everyone." "It’s 8am in America." "Hello everyone, it’s midnight in Australia"… On the evening of March 31, with warm greetings, a special "online party" kicked off.

During the Crabapple Blossom Festival, the Tianjin University Trade Unions relied on the Young Teachers' Association to organize this online party in order to build a communication platform for young teachers who are currently in Hubei, abroad, and those who have just returned to China in Tianjin. It aims to enhance the confidence in fighting the epidemic, convey greetings, concerns, provide assistance and cheer them up as well.

At eight o'clock in the evening Beijing time, there were 58 young teachers online at the same time, sitting in front of their screens. Teachers from the Office of International Cooperation, the Faculty Affairs Department and the TJU hospital greeted them and gave them warm tips about their respective work and attention to matters abroad. The atmosphere online gradually became warm and it easily felt by all.

"As a Hubei native, what impressed me most during this time was the support of our medical staff from all over the country. Among them doctors and nurses from the Affiliated Hospitals of Tianjin University. “I sincerely thank the angels in white for their great contributions and I am also proud of my choice to become a teacher at Tianjin University." Shen Fei, a young teacher from the School of Mechanical Engineering, joined Tianjin University just three months ago.

After reading about ischemia at the local blood station in his hometown in the newspaper, Weng Zhe, a young teacher from the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, born in Shiyan, Hubei, left his house and donated blood after taking protective measures. He described his experience and said, "I also hope that everyone can do their part to fight against the epidemic!"

“Being in foreign country, I feel warm as a teacher of Tianjin University.” Shi Liangxing, dean of Xuanhuai College, who is visiting the United States, expressed his heartfelt sentiment. School and colleges have sent masks and protective equipment to our young teachers abroad in time. He added that: “At the beginning of epidemic, the Tianjin University' Alumni Associations of many colleges and universities in the U.S. have acted quickly, caring for the motherland and alma mater and donated money and other things actively. Many alumni abroad said: “Our motherland has raised us well and we will pull through this together.”

"I am in Munich, where I really feel the solidarity from the overseas Chinese and their heartfelt sincerity to repay the motherland."

"I am in Queensland, Australia. The Chinese Students and Scholars Association are actively taking care of the community to prevent the epidemic, please rest assured."

"I am in Barcelona, Spain. I received greetings from the Office of International Cooperation, college and my party branch almost every day. Thank you, I am not alone at all! Through this online activity, I felt that I have gone home and I am very happy. "

There is a confidant in the sea and the world is close. two hours later, the online meeting was nearing the end. The young teachers turned on the cameras one after another without knowing who started and recited a few small poems originally created by the young teachers of Tianjin University which have become popular on campus recently: We are stationed in laboratories and holding new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data ,accelerating technological breakthroughs , we grow with our motherland , towards a great renaissance tomorrow , countless of us, have a common name-Chinese youth!
