During the Crabapple Blossom Festival, Tianjin Universitystudents and staff including all sectors of society were welcome to get a view of the thousands of flowering crabapple flowers online. There are more than 800 crabapple trees at Weijin Road Campus, including species of Malus micromalus Makino with a long-lasting and charming fragrance and a rare variety of crabapple. Also, Malus spectabilis, Chaenomeles speciosa, Malus halliana, Malus 'Golden Hornet', Malus 'Neville Copeman' and more. Most of the crabapple trees are at least 40 years old. The oldest one is the crabapple tree near the Hydraulic Center of Tianjin University, which is nearly 70 years old.

On April 10, 1957, former Premier Zhou Enlai and the Prime Minister of Poland Jozef Cyrankiewicz visited the internship factory and the Hydraulic Center of Tianjin University, when the crabapple flowers were blossoming on campus.

There are more than 3000 crabapple trees of 16 species at Peiyangyuan Campus, including Malus micromalus, Chaenomeles cathayensis, Malus Halliana, Chaenomeles speciose, Malus spectabilis, Malus spectabilis (Ait.) Borkh, Calophyllum inophyllum L., Ruby Begonia, Malus robusta Rehd., Malus ‘Red Splender’, Malus 'Royalty', Malus ‘Flame’, Malus “Spring Snow”, Malus “Dolgo”, Malus “Golden Hornet”, which are mostly growing on the crabapple embankment. And the crabapple trees there has fruits, leaves, pink, red and white flowers. Besides, nearly 1400 crabapple trees are under breeding. Besides the crabapple embankment, the crabapple trees are most on campus front area and the inner courtyard of the Zheng Dong Library at Peiyangyuan Campus. The Crabapple Blossom Festival at TJU announces online activities from the end of March to the middle of April and is getting better and better with the flowering. Tianjin University shows the beauty of the flowering crabapple and the vigorous spring campus with live flower appreciation, slowly live broadcast, live stream of guest of honor, which allows housebound online visitors to admire the beauty.

The events such as concerts, CCTV Video live, alumni event, online class, singing online classes of singling, painting, and gym, live broadcasts, online admission consulting, and laboratory introduction were held during the festival.
