The 2019 International Conference on Field - Programmable Technology (FPT) was successfully held in Tianjin from December 9-13. The conference was organized by Tianjin University’s School of Microelectronics.The conference featured 4 keynote talks, 26 oral presentations, 39 posters, 8 PhD forum papers, 2 demonstration papers, 14 design competition papers, and 1 Chinese industrial session, covering a wide area of topics on tools and design techniques, architectures, device technologies, applications, and education of field-programmable technology.More than 160 well-known experts, young scholars, international students, and enterprise representatives attended the conference.
During the opening ceremony, Jinsheng Yang, the party secretary from Tianjin University’s School of Microelectronics delivered a welcoming speech.Yang noted that the field-programmable technology shows great potential in improving a broad set of applications like video transcoding, database, data compression, search, AI inference, genomics, machine vision, computational storage and network acceleration in the emerging era of big data and artificial intelligence. “The China FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) market is predicted to be about 10 billion RMB by 2025. As 5G and AI technologies develop, the market is expected to be further extended. This year’s FPT conference held in Tianjin aims to facilitate communication among academies and industries.” Yang said in his speech.
This conference set up a poster display session to promote the discussion and the exchange of academic views. During the breaks between the keynote talks, more than 50 poster submissions were displayed in the venues.
The International Conference on Field-Programmable Technology is considered the best international conference in the field of programmable technology, reconfigurable devices and computing systems sponsored by the IEEE in the Asia-Pacific region. It is also one of the high-level international conferences in the field of computer architecture recommended by the China Computer Association. The FPT International Conference mainly covers the fields of programmable logic device (FPGA) -related hardware structures, EDA algorithms, high-performance computing, embedded systems, product verification and acceleration, digital and computer system education and teaching.
