Tianjin University Crafts Deciduous Landscape Area in Peiyangyuan Campus

 Arts and Culture

Recently, a charming deciduous autumn landscape area was crafted on the Peiyangyuan Campus, attracting many teachers and students to stop for photos.

The Crunch of Treading on Fallen Leaves

From the middle of November, trees such as sycamore and ash are in the period of centralized defoliation. So, the property management staff fastidiously observed the weather and changes of the cold air. On November 20, they launched the "defoliation without sweeping" plan. They selected the pedestrian roads on the south side of Building No.55, the library atrium, and the south side of Qiyuan dormitory as a "defoliation landscape area" pilot, which is suitable for teachers and students to walk around in a poetic atmosphere. Here, the leaves spread like a golden carpet, which is one of the most beautiful scenes of autumn.

Creative Efforts

In order to create the best fallen leaves landscape, the property cleaning personnel mainly adopted the method of slow sweeping and humidifying fallen leaves. On the premise of ensuring safety, the fallen leaves are stacked naturally to extend viewing time for teachers and students.

Every day, they will pick up and clean the landscape area to ensure that there is no garbage hidden in the leaves, which also makes the leaf landscape purer. In this way, the surface looks like the leaves are stacked naturally instead of being swept, but in fact, the labor intensity is higher than before. First, the leaves in the pedestrian walking area should be swept to both sides, and the garbage mixed in the leaves should be picked up. Finally, the laying degree of leaves should be inspected. If the leaves are stacked unevenly and unsightly, the redundant leaves will be swept away to places where the leaves are rare. If the leaves are piled too thick, it would easily cause fire or block the water outlet, then the thickness of the leaves should be appropriately reduced.

In addition, it is also useful to clean up the dead branches and leaves regularly, because the greening company will treat and bury them in the open space in the west area of the school and ferment them into organic fertilizer for use in the next year.

Leaf Tips

The Plane tree, is also listed as a deciduous tree. It is the first of the four major street trees in the world, which is known as the "king of street trees".

The Ash tree, belongs to the rhinoceros’ family of deciduous trees. It can also grow in mild saline alkali land and is good for use as a windbreak and sand fixation and embankment protection.

Autumn is getting deeper, and the golden orange red leaves stir in the sunset, which makes people linger. I hope you can stay in this poetic campus for a moment to feel the warmth and comfort, and record the moving and romantic "beauty of Tianjin University".
