On November 11, TJU signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Administration Committee from the Haihe Education Park. They will jointly cooperate on an intelligent bus according to the agreement.
The Peiyangyuan Campus is located in the Park. The aim is to research collaborating applications of the vehicle, along with cyber and cloud technologies based on 5G communications technology.
Xie Hui, Director of Tianjin University’s Interdisciplinary Research Center of Unmanned Technology, introduced the background, significance, goal and measures of implementation of the cooperation in detail during the signing ceremony.
According to Xie, the two sides will take full advantage of the Park, lay emphasis on the research and development of key technologies with regards to the intelligent connected vehicle, and adopt the industry-university-research integration strategy to meet people’s needs within the Park —— demonstrating operation, administrative reception, intelligent automatic cluster to replace walking, and short trips in the city.
They will establish an industry-education integration platform and demonstration operation platform of intelligent vehicles and intelligent logistics systems. Meanwhile, they will form a university league and industry league to share the resources of the platform, which will give birth to a demonstration area of intelligent bus operation —— a requirement of the government, and provide unmanned experience for the 4th World Intelligence Conference (WIC).
Tianjin University’s Party Secretary Li Jiajun said that the cooperation is of great significance to the innovation of intelligent technologies, the cultivation of 3E talents and the industry-education integration. The 4th WIC will be crucial to inspect the achievement of the intelligent bus project, so both of them should be full prepared in this project and lay solid foundation for the long-term strategic cooperation. The project will drive the development of other industries, and the platform will benefit the intelligent development of universities. Tianjin University will give full play to its existing technologies to assist the Park in its comprehensive and deep developing blueprint.
Leaders form Office of Science and Technology, School of Mechanical Engineering, and College of Intelligence and Computing said that they would explore and support the long-term strategic cooperation with the Park.
Yang Lingsheng, Director of the Committee, is confident in the cooperation. He also hoped that the two sides would go on to cooperate in terms of the land-sea-air intelligent construction and environmental protection. Leaders form other departments said that they would fully support the cooperation, be well prepared and provide resources to the project.
On behalf of each party, Tianjin University’s Vice President Wang Shuxin and Liu Suxia, Vice Director of the Committee signed the agreement, which adsd a new chapter to their long-term cooperation.
Haihe Education Park is an education center of Tianjin City and a home of high-level talents. It boosts 2 top universities, 8 higher vocational colleges and 2 secondary vocational schools.
