2019 Autumn Fruit Project Held

 Campus

On November 10, 2019, the Tianjin University Autumn Fruit Project was launched on both campuses at 7 a.m. Despite the chilly rain, apples and kiwifruits in a “honeysweet” morning filled the atmosphere with fragrance and warmth.

A total of 35.8 tons of fruit and 1.2 tons of honey were gifted and distributed to 39,847 students. Each student received a “Hua Niu” apple from Tianshui in Gansu, a Red Fuji apple from Qingyang in Gansu, 4 kiwifruits and 2 packets of acacia honey from Fufeng County in Shaanxi.

Xu Yuanchen, the Director of Fruit Project Committee and first-year postgraduate student from the School of Civil Engineering, said that the ballot for “What is your favorite fruit”, earns the greatest amount of attention every year. “As a member of Fruit Project Committee, we organized students to participate in the entire process of voting, tasting and distribution, so as to help them establish the concept of living a healthy life, while jointly realizing patriotism.”

The fruit project took a month with both online and offline activities simultaneously being carried out. Students showed their talents in activities such as “3-line Love Letter”, “My Story with the Project” and composing original music “Fruit Disco”. They also displayed passion for participating in offline fruit tasting, the fruit carnival and “old books for fruit”. With all these meaningful activities, this winter is loaded with fragrance of fruit and the love for homeland, bringing heartfelt happiness and peace to students at TJU.

It is reported that this is the 18th Fruit Project since 2002. From traditional “fruit distribution” to fruit culture festival, the Fruit Project has already become a campus cultural symbol which every student is looking forward to and every alumnus will never forget. The 2019 Autumn Fruit Project is designed and organized by students on their own.
