CoME Establishes Yin Bang-yan Education Fund

Tianjin University’s College of Management and Economics (CoME) has established the Yin Bang-yan Education Fund in Memory of Prof. Yin Bang-yan who passed away this past June and held the founding ceremony on November 13.

The initiators of the fund, including Prof. Yin’s children and some alumni, attended the ceremony.

After Professor Yin passed away, his eldest son Zha Jing-min donated 500,000 yuan to the Peiyang Education Development Foundation on behalf of his family to support TJU’s education. The fund will be distributed to TJU’s outstanding students in the form of scholarships.

The Professor Yin Bang-yan Education Fund is acontinuation of Mr. Yin's life. It will inspire generations of students of CoME to study hard, have the courage to explore, and strive to become a fully developed qualified builder and reliable successor of socialist society.

At the ceremony, Huo Bao-feng, Dean of CoME delivered a speech in which he recalled Professor Yin's brilliant life and how he has inspired numerous teachers and students with his innovative spirit, rigorous pursuit in academics, his benevolence, generosity and perseverance. He mentioned that Professor Yin Bang-yan always taught students to be morally upright and took the lead in teaching reform.

Zha Jing-min as the main donor said in his speech that through the establishment of the fund, he hoped to continue his father's legacy of giving back to society.

Professor Yin's granddaughter Yin Zhi-yang also shared some stories. She mentioned: “Grandpa had always taught us to be honest and considerate of others. After his retirement, he still insisted on supporting the Self-Strengthening Association of TJU (a student association to help students with financial problems). He even donated money to the Breakfast Project which provided breakfast to students in need.”She said that theFund was more than a memorial to her beloved grandpa, but more of a continuation of his care for students.

Guo-mo He, former Standing Committee member and Vice Chairman of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee, Deputy Executive Director of Tianjin Municipal Committee on Care for Children as well as former President of TJU Alumni Association, was deeply touched. He recalled the acquaintance of more than 70 years with Professor Yin and said that Professor Yin strengthened hisconviction with ups and downs, devoted his life to people, and always kept the mission in mind. “What he gives students is not only material rewards, but also spiritual inheritance,” he concluded.

Du Wang, an alumnus of the Class of 1984 and the General Manager of KTH Capital Management Limited, looked back at his school days. “Mr. Yin impressed us as a kind teacher who cared for his students and he was affable. We often visited Mr. Yin at his home.” Du Wang remarked that alumni of the Class of 1984 would see to the development and expansion of Yin Bang-yan Education Fund.

Wang Yan, Vice President of TJU Alumni Association expressed his gratitude to Professor Yin’s family on behalf of TJU.He said it was of great significance to establish the fund to encourage students to forge ahead and carry forward Mr. Yin's spirit of dedication and caring for the next generation. “The establishment of the Professor Yin Bang-yan Education Fund helps to pass on Professor Yin's spirit so as to encourage the younger generation to makecontinuous efforts for the great rejuvenation of China,” Wang declared.

Professor Bang-yan Yin was an outstanding Party member of Tianjin education system,the main founder of China's professional degree education and the main founder of Management discipline of TJU. On June 30, 2019, he passed away in Tianjin at the age of 91.
