SPbPU and Tianjin University to Further Cooperation

On November 6, a delegation from Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) visited Tianjin University to expand cooperation.

Zhao Meirong, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Tianjin University, said that the two schools had signed the Memorandum of Cooperation in 2013, and have since carried out high-level visits. TJU is dedicated in developing itself as a comprehensive university, which has achieved rapid progress in both sciences and arts in addition to its strength in engineering. For future cooperation, both parties will further promote exchanges and visits of professors and students in the foremost areas. She also hoped that both sides could expand their collaboration in terms of talent cultivation, especially on student recruitment, making them the bridge to deepen the cooperation between the two universities.

Professor Sergey Pogodinthe, Head of the Department of International Relations of SPbPU, said that the close founding years and highly matched preponderant disciplines of the two universities are the foundation for their cooperation. He hoped that the two schools would lay emphasis on the collaboration of liberal arts in the future apart from that of science and engineering. Meanwhile, both parties could further promote student recruitment from each other and exchange faculty and students.

The two universities are members of Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities.
