On October 22, US News and World Report released the Best Global Universities and Subjects Rankings for 2020, in which Tianjin University’s Mechanical Engineering program ranked 11th globally, followed by Princeton University (12th) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (13th).

US News adopts the general definition of Mechanical Engineering, covering subjects such as Energy Power, Machinery Manufacturing and Automation, and Engineering Mechanics which are largely consistent with the discipline distribution (which refers to three first-level disciplines including Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering and Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics) and research direction of TJU’s School of Mechanical Engineering. The US News global ranking is based on the analysis of more than 10 basic indicators, including international reputation, academic publications and citations, and international cooperation. Therefore, it objectively reflects the strength and international influence of the School of Mechanical Engineering.
