On October 25, the 2019 Global Infrastructural Projects Forum was held in Changsha. More than 400 elites from relevant political, academic and industry sectors participated.
The forum held in-depth discussions and interactions on hot issues of global infrastructural projects. The main topics included multinational engineering company governance and global management, international engineering market development and industrial chain innovation cooperation, international engineering project risk prevention and control, EPIC contract management, digital construction and industry innovation from the perspective of the "Belt and Road Initiative".
Leaders and experts from the applicable areas delivered keynote speeches. Zheng Chao, the first-class inspector of the Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Commerce, made a speech and interpretation regarding the latest guidance on promoting high-quality development of foreign contracted projects issued by the Ministry of Commerce and 19 Departments.
Subsequently, the “International Engineering Leadership Talent Project” was launched. Additionally, the release of “Hai Jing Hui” marked the official establishment of the first knowledge community belonging to international engineering people in China.
Professor Chen Yongqiang, Director of the Management Case Research Center of Tianjin University, on behalf of the Engineering Management Team of Tianjin University, released the research results of the global infrastructural project platform. The platform relies on the preponderant disciplines and multidisciplinary intersections of Tianjin University. It consists of the Tianjin University Global Engineering Management Interdisciplinary Platform, Tianjin University “Belt and Road Initiative” and PPP Research Center, and the Global Engineering Management WeChat Official Platform. The professor introduced the research articles and reports released by the global infrastructural project platform in the past year, 22 special research articles on the 2017 new FIDIC contract conditions, and the team's latest published works and training materials.
One of the characteristics of this forum was the four parallel forums in the General Forum. The topics include “Multinational Engineering Corporate Governance and Global Management”, “International Engineering Market Development and Industry Chain Innovation Cooperation”, and “International Infrastructural Project Risk Prevention and Control”, and “General Contracting Management, Digital Construction and Industry Innovation” from the perspective of “Belt and Road Initiative”.
The forum aims to provide a platform for people from all walks of life in the global infrastructural projects to promote information communication and knowledge transfer in the industry. With China's policy of comprehensive opening up, this environment will help all parties to understand the spirit of the “Belt and Road Initiative” policy, seize opportunities, meet challenges, and promote the healthy and sustainable development of global engineering operations.
The forum was hosted by Tianjin University, Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, Hunan Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and China Foreign Contracting Engineering Chamber of Commerce.
