Recently, the 662th academic discussion meeting of Xiangshan Science Conference was held in Beijing. At the conference, academician Gu Xiaosong, Director of Tianjin University’s Medical College, gave a keynote speech titled "Organizational Engineering Innovation and Complex Organ Construction."

The theme of the conference was “Difficulties and breakthroughs in Tissue Regeneration and Repair—Building and Improving the Regeneration Microenvironment through Innovative Materials and Biomedical Engineering”. More than 50 experts and scholars from the First Affiliated Hospital of the People's Liberation Army General Hospital, Nankai University, Nantong University, University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas at San Antonio, University of Pittsburgh, Fudan University, Peking University, the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University, Third Military Medical University, Ninth Affiliated Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University and Sichuan University attended the meeting.

During the conference, 22 experts respectively made reports focused on four central topics: “Perfect Repair and Regeneration of High-tech Biotechnology and Damaged Tissues", “Key Scientific Issues for Inducing the Tissue Perfection and Regeneration of Innovative Materials”, “Innovative Theories and Key Technologies for Biomedical Engineering to Improve the Renewable Microenvironment”, and “Key and Difficult Issues for the Combination of Materials and Engineering to a build Microenvironment”.

After that, the participating experts discussed the scientific problems, technical problems, supporting policies and regulations for clinical transformation and application, government supervision and personnel training of the research on tissue renewable materials.

The Xiangshan Science Conference was initiated by the Ministry of Science and Technology and was officially established in 1993 with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The conference aims to further promote the development of tissue regeneration materials from basic research innovation to clinical transformation applications in China.
