The 11^th "VICTORY-DECH Cup" Doctoral Forum was hosted by the School of Pharmaceutical Science & Technology (SPST) from October 16^th to 17^th.

On October 16^th, Prof. Frances H. Arnold from the Biochemistry & Bioengineering department at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, was invited to the forum and delivered a report themed Innovation By Evolution: Bringing New Chemistry to Life. She was also appointed as an honorary professor at Tianjin University by Prof. Li Jiajun, Party Secretary for Tianjin University, in a ceremony held before the report and presided over by Prof. Yuan Yingjin, the university’s Vice President.

During the forum, 35 doctoral students and 65 graduate students of SPST took turns presenting academic reports concerning research fields such as medicinal chemistry, medicinal analysis, pharmacy, biochemistry, biopharmaceuticals, and health and pharmacy management. A judging committee of professors attended the forum, evaluated and gave suggestions on the students’ reports.

There was also a celebration party where students were recognized for the wonderful job they had done during the forum. Professor Robert Borris, the Vice Dean of SPST, gave a speech expressing his appreciation to all participants.
