Recently, Tianjin University's 14 project proposals of the "2019 National Social Science Fund of China" were approved.

The funded projects included one major project, seven general projects and five youth projects, covering six disciplines such as Marxism-Leninism & Scientific Socialism, Philosophy, Law, Management, Foreign Literature and Journalism & Communication, and a project as a 2019 national youth project of the 13th Five-Year Plan of National Educational Science.

The granted projects were from the Law School, the School of Marxism, the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, the School of Architecture, the College of Management and Economics, the School of Education, and the Institute of New Media.

Reportedly, 29,452 valid applications were processed by the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences in 2019, among which 4,627 were approved, a 15% approval rate. The project approval rate for TJU was 24%, 9 percent higher than the average.
