Zhou Hongyi, chairman of Qihoo 360, announced that the company would invest around 10 billion yuan to cooperate with Tianjin University and other scientific research institutions to develop a new generation of intelligent security ecosystems during the 15th Summer Summit of Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum 2019 held in north China's Tianjin Municipality on August 17.
Zhou Hongyi said theinvestmentin Tianjin would total approximately 10 billion yuan, focusing on cybersecurity and a new generation of artificial intelligence. He said that Qihoo 360 would give full play to its influence in the internet and cybersecurity and, bring together resources and talent to Tianjin to promote the development of the city’s internet industry. The company will jointly establish a cybersecurity industry fund with the Tianjin Municipality to build a large security ecosystem with the R&D headquarters based in the Tianjin Hi-tech Area as its platform. Within five years, it will finance about 10 billion yuan in the fields of network security, the security of Internet of Things, big data, and the industrial internet, as well as a new generation of artificial intelligence in the city. Tianjin has numerous renowned universities and resources for outstanding talent. Qihoo 360 will fully combine its practical advantages and Tianjin’s lead in scientific research. The Company will cooperate with Tianjin University in strengthening the talent training in the disciplines of information science, public safety and emergency management to jointly build a first-class cybersecurity school in China, building a high-caliber team of cybersecurity, urban security and emergency management for Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and the entire country.
The team ofWang Wenjun, a chief scientist of key special projects of the National Key R&D Program and the National Social Science Fund of China, a professor of the College of Intelligence and Computing, Tianjin University, who has been engaged in the research of “Intelligence + Security” for a long time, will play a significant role in this cooperation with Qihoo 360. Professor Wang Wenjun said that Tianjin University will cooperate with Qihoo 360 in the fields of urban risk calculation theory, urban safety brain design, and the development of urban safety brain test bed and, to contribute to the construction of a new generation of intelligent safety ecosystems.
The scientific research team of TJU has carried out long-term and in-depth research in “Intelligence + Security” and, undertaken a number of national key R&D programs, major projects for social science fund, science and technology support program and natural science fund projects. The team has won many provincial andministerialscience and technology awards and has international cooperation base and professional international think tank. The team has made many decision-making consultation reports, achieving considerable social benefits. Moreover, it has also formed a number of valuable original theoretical achievements in intelligent security, risk calculation, and big data mining amongst many other fields.
The Wang Wenjun team has established a joint laboratory with the 360 Group. Relying on the national key research and development project, they aim to carry out in-depth cooperation in the field of urban safety brain to constantly enrich the ecological system of urban governance and industrial intelligence upgrading and contribute to the development of artificial intelligence technology and industry in Tianjin.
