TJU Team Triumphs in First Robot Innovative Design Competition

The first "Boshi Cup" Robot Innovative Design Competition for Chinese Graduate Students took place at Harbin Institute of Technology in July. Two teams from Tianjin University won the first and second prizes. Zeng Ming, Li qi and Liu Yingshu, three teachers from the School of Electrical Automation and Information Engineering, won the Excellent Instructor award. And Tianjin University was granted the Excellent Organization award.


The first prize winner team, ‘‘Transformers: the rebirth of Ganjiang and Moye,'' consisted of four students, Li Guannan, Xu Wenkang, Ma Yu and Lu Xiangzhe. Their "Two-body vehicle snake-composite variable-structure robot" impressed the judges with its ingenious structure, stylish appearance and practicality, standing out from the 1,311 teams from 220 universities. Another team called "Lightning McQueen", consisting of Zhao Yao and Chen Xi won the second prize with their outstanding performance in several international rat competitions.

Robot Innovative Design Competition for Chinese Graduate Students is one of the eleven theme events co-hosted by China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center and China Association of Science and Technology Youth Science and Technology Center, aiming to further enhance the creative consciousness of graduate students and promote better service for economic development and the well-being of people offered by the technology and products of robots. The theme of this competition is "Marching towards the Age of Robot's Intelligence".
