“Welcome Home”, Class of 2003

On May 19th, nearly 40 alumni from the Class of 2003 majoring in Engineering Management at the College of Management and Economics (CoME), returned to their Alma Mater from all over the world. The college organized a welcoming party for the alumni. Shou-feng Ma, the CPC Party Chief of CoME and teachers from both the Department of Engineering Management and the Alumni Affairs and Development Office, participated in the party.

"I have been engaged in International Project Management work since graduation. I'm passionate about my work", alumnus Gao-feng Gui said. He added that the university motto "Seek Truth from Facts" had always been his working principle and constant spiritual motivation.

Alumnus Hao He shared his work experience after graduation.“I’m always proud to tell people that I’m a TJU graduate. The history, the contribution our university has made to the industrial development of our country, and the university motto…, all of them are precious legacies for TJU students”.

After graduation, alumnus Zheng Qian got married and started a career in Tianjin. Talking about his Alma Mater and his college years, Zheng Qian choked up, striking a chord in everyone present and making many people red-eyed.

"When I was at school, my grades were not very good, but basically stable," said alumnus Xu Han, his words made all the teachers and alumni burst into laughter. "Even people like me can be reported on CCTV, can you imagine how excellent our engineering management major is?,”, he joked.

Alumnus Shuai Wu described her experience of switching to high-end jewelry after graduation. She said, "As TJU students, we can also perform well even if we don't do work related to our majors, because what TJU cultivates is not only professional ability, but also vocational ability, which is the TJU quality ".

Shou-feng Ma expressed his sincere welcome to the alumni, and offered his three hopes for them. First, he hoped that the alumni wouldachieve greater success in their careers.He congratulated the alumni on their excellent achievements around the world and said that the alumni were now in a rising stage of career development with courage, experience, and physical strength, thus he encouraged them to make a difference.Second, he hoped that the alumni could provide valuable suggestions about the development of the university, CoME, and their major. Finally, he invited the alumni to come back more often and assured them that TJU would always pay close attention to the growth and success of the alumni.
