Tianjin University and Qinghai Cultural Heritage Administration Sign Agreement

On June 20, Tianjin University and the Qinghai Cultural Heritage Administration signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the investigation, research, preservation and utilization of cultural heritage and the personnel training. Additionally, both parties mapped out specific work to be carried out this year.

Representatives of Tianjin University, the Qinghai Cultural Heritage Administration and Qinghai Nationalities University attended the signing ceremony and delivered speeches.

At the signing ceremony, Professor Zhang Lixin, Assistant to the TJU President, said that the university had established long-term stable cooperative relations with the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Beihai Park, the Eastern and Western Royal Tombs of the Qing Dynasty, the Chengde Mountain Resort and other world cultural heritage and important historical monuments under special preservation throughout the country, achieving fruitful results. At the same time, TJU was given approved to establish a variety of research institutes and centers and key national, ministerial and municipal laboratories including the International Research Center for Chinese Cultural Heritage Conservation of Tianjin University, building all-round and professional heritage protection research platforms, and integrating Tianjin University into the national heritage protection system.

With the signing of this strategic agreement, Tianjin University will strengthen its in-depth cooperation with the Qinghai Cultural Heritage Administration in more fields. Through the newly established Silk Road Cultural Landscape Research Center and the Institute of History and Theory of Architecture at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University will carry out specific protection and research of cultural heritage. Through joint efforts, Tianjin University will make greater contributions to the cultural heritage protection of China.

Tianjin University has been maintaining close cooperation with the cultural relics departments of Qinghai Province. Since the 1990s, the University has completed a lot of surveying, mapping, research and protection of cultural heritage in Qinghai, and accumulated rich experience and achievements. At the same time, Tianjin University supported Qinghai Nationalities University to jointly establish the undergraduate program of national architectural heritage protection at the School of Civil Engineering of Qinghai Nationalities University. On this basis, the two universities jointly established the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Polar Architecture Research Center on May 30, 2019, dedicated to the research and personnel training of local cultural heritage in Qinghai.
