On June 24, Tianjin University held the 2019 Campus Open Day and College Entrance Consultation event. This unique and special occasion allowed candidates and their parents to meet with counsellors who advised them on the completion of applications for admission to Tianjin University. Swarms of aspirants and their family members continuously flowed to the consultations. Additionally, there were various activities such as on-site consultation, expert lectures, as well as visits and different experiences. In attendance were the Office of Academic Affairs, experts of the 18 categories of undergraduate program clusters and 9 programs, Qiushi Honors College, Xuanhuai School, as well as member universities of the Excellence 9 (E9) were also represented.
In order to give candidates and parents a clearer and deeper understanding of the University and the content and meaning of the programs, all curricula or program categories had established a “Professor and Expert Consultation Site” to answer questions about program disciplines. Those who joined were extremely enthusiastic and raised interesting questions about the admission’s program categories, training, program recognition and transfers.
Moreover, the various consulting sites within the University also held a "Face-to-face” get together with the Admissions Director: The “Tianjin University 2019 Admission Policy Interpretation" as well as the “Interpretation by Outstanding Teachers on Admission Programs Categories or Programs" were hosted in Building No. 19.
During the day, the TJU History Museum and a number of laboratories were also opened, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the profound heritage of Tianjin University – China's first modern university. The laboratories showed the contemporary scientific atmosphere and excellent design works by students. The School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, the School of Life Sciences, and the Mitsubishi Electric Automation Laboratory led candidates and parents to explore the mysterious world of science. The School of Architecture exhibited undergraduate works from past graduates, allowing all to appreciate the beauty of architectural art. The School of Electrical and Information Engineering brought shows relative to water, land, and air robots. The brain-controlled robots displayed by the School of Medical Science and Engineering Tianjin Neural Engineering Research Center gave the attendees a unique experience in viewing cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements and artificial intelligence technologies.
This year, six new undergraduate programs were added: artificial intelligence, cyberspace security, intelligent manufacturing engineering, smart grid information engineering, data science and big data technology, and clinical medicine. Simultaneously, the new reforms from enrollment to training attracted the enthusiastic attention of those visiting. Also, considerable attention was paid to “admission scores”, the “content of the programs” and the “employment rate”. Attentiveness and great attention were also given to the interest of students along with long-term development, the campus environment, living conditions, and the school’s cultural atmosphere.
