 Campus

"It is my tenth year at Tianjin University." Zhu Shan said. After he was admitted to Tianjin University in 2009, he worked hard and obtained the test-free qualification to study for a doctorate in 2013. His research focuses on“Preparation of Carbon Nanomaterials and Their Energy Storage Applications”, which reveals the electrochemical properties of three-dimensional carbon nanomaterials and provides a new idea for the construction of excellent energy storage materials.Zhu developed a series of high-performance carbon-based electrode materials, and improved the performance of electrochemical devices such as lithium-ion batteries and super capacitors. He published 15 papers in journals included in the Science Citation Index, with a total impact factor of 75, which was highly regarded by domestic and foreign peers. His papers have been cited hundreds of times. The carbon material preparation technology developed based on his research is low cost, environmentally -friendly, and highly productive. The industrial application of related technologies is currently being marketed and it is expected that the first batch of products will be produced this year.

"As a researcher, I’m very good at conveying scientific knowledge to the public”.

Zhu Shan began to actively write popular science articles four years ago and is committed to promoting science and technology, disseminating scientific ideas, and propagating scientific spirit. At present, he is an A-level signing author of the well-known popular science media “Guokr”. He has written articles related to nanomaterials for a long time and completed several 100,000-word works, which has received millions of views. He also cooperated with the "I am a scientist" platform sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology to introduce the outstanding scientists to the public.

On the well-known question and answer website "Zhihu", Zhu Shan opened a personal academic column called "Simplified Electrochemistry", focusing on promoting electrochemical knowledge. As the signing author of many professional research media such as “Rational science” and “Material Man”, he insisted on sharing the basic theory of electrochemistry and the latest scientific research results. Many articles have caused a great impact among relevant practitioners and gained wide acclaim. In the process of popularizing the latest scientific research results to the public, he improved his ability in word expression and communication, strengthened his understanding of the field, and viewed the development of the subject from a more macro perspective.

“I like writing, and I am very willing to use my spare time to do popular science, integrate scientific knowledge into daily life, make science easier to understand, and let the public know more.” Zhu Shan said.
