Tianjin University Featured in Documentary

China’ s overall national strength has been steadily increasing. Not only has the image of China become the focus of attention on the international stage, but also it has grown more dynamic and abundant in the hearts of all Chinese people. Recently, under the guidance and support of the State Council Information Office, Season 2 of How China Works, a series of documentaries based on China’ sachievements and engineering feats, was broadcast on CCTV and other television networks, as well as social media platforms. It was also presented to the world through Discovery Channel’s The Majesty of China, allowing the global audience to experience China's new changes and new look in economic development, technological innovation, and people’ s livelihood.

The second episode focuses on China’ s emerging technologies and records typical events to reveal the changes in China brought by innovative technologies such as the Internet, big data, and brain-computer interfaces. The two stories displayed in the documentary – the mind-controlled game and rehabilitation training for patients suffering from a stroke – are all the research results of the neural engineering team of Tianjin University and their partners in the brain-computer interface. The mind-controlled game being tested is jointly developed by TJU’s neural engineering team and Happyfish Games (Tianjin) Co., Ltd.

The first season of this documentary has been broadcast in dozens of countries around the world, showing a vivid picture of the latest developments in contemporary China in the fields of science and technology, people’s livelihood, environmental protection, and the Internet. It has aroused a warm-hearted response at home and abroad and received a wide range of praise. The second season continues the same narrative style and tone as the previous season, displaying a more complete panorama of China, reflecting a livelier pulse of the times.
