Tianjin University Achieves Success at Tianjin Track and Field Games

On May 19,after two days of fierce competition the 2019 the University Students Track and Field Gamesat the Tianjin University of Finance and Economics (TUFE) officially ended. The Tianjin University (TJU) track and field team won a total of 14 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals, ranking first in the total number of gold medals in Group B.

The University Students Track and Field Games is a sporting event with the largest number of participating universities and students in an individual competition in Tianjin, comprising 990 athletes from 45 universities this year. The TJU team consisted of 28 athletes competing inGroup A (non-professional athletes) and Group B (high performance athletes).

In the competition for high-performance athletes, Fu Mingxia, a student fromthe Tianjin University College of Management and Economics, won the women's long jump championship. Xi Zeng, another student from the College of Management and Economics, won the men's 1,500m championship, chalking up his fifth win in a row and his eleventh gold in the University Students Track and Field Games. Zhou Yuanpeng won the men's 100m and 200m championships and Zhao Sa won the men’s 110m hurdles. Song Meijing of the Law School, although sick and injured, struggled and eventually won the women's 100m championship. Zhou Jiahui with an excellent performance, won first place in the women's 100m hurdles. Three first year students from the College of Management and Economics, Wang Yiyi, Liu Zhenzhen and Li Ziyi, won championships in the women's triple jump, women's 400 m and women's 800 m respectively. Xi Zeng, Zhao Sa, Zhao Guoqing and Zhou Yuanpeng won the men's 4x400m relay championship among fierce competition. Zhou Yuanpeng, Yao Shufan, Zhao Guoqing and Zhao Sa work together well in the men's 4X100m relay race, outscoring other teams when the anchor man competed, finally winning the championship. Zhou Jiahui, Wang Xinyi, Liu Zhenzhen, and Hao Sijia won the women's 4x100m relay championship by a big margin.

At the same time, a group of non-professional athletes of the Tianjin University track and field team also achieved good results. By virtue of his strength, Xing Weichao, a postgraduate from the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology won the gold medal in the men's 10,000m race. Liu Hang from the School of Materials Science and Engineering ranked fifth in men's 1500m and the in 800m. Liu Meizhe from the School of Chemical Engineeringand Technology, won eighth place in the men's 200m. Gao Zhongnan, also from the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, ranked eighth in the men's long jump.
