TJU Team Wins Third Place in 2019 World Intelligence Underwater Robots Challenge

The 2019 World Intelligence Underwater Robots Challenge, which is the first competition of the third World Intelligence Congress, was held in Tianjin Binhai New Area on May 15th. A total of 13 underwater robot teams from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Tianjin University, Shenyang Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, National University of Defense Technology, Ocean University of China, Harbin Engineering University and other institutions competed in the challenge.

The team named Blue Gun and NICE TEAM from the School of Marine Science and Technology on behalf of Tianjin University participated in this challenge. All of the 10 team members are undergraduate students. It was a two-day underwater combat competition, which contained the points race, qualifying and final, The Blue Gun team won third place due to their skillful manipulation and effective strategies.

Jin Nan, deputy party secretary of the school in Tianjin University hopes the competition will let more students have the chance to participate in international robotics competitions.
