Since the first engineering research institute was set up in 1933, TU has committed itself to pioneering research. TU has established a rational scientific research system integrating basic research with application. There is one national-level sub center of major project, four state key labs, one national engineering laboratory, one national engineering and technology research center, one national engineering research center, two national new technology promotion centers, one key scientific research base for national cultural heritage and 32 provincial or ministerial key laboratories and engineering centers.
At present, TU has become an important high-tech development base in China. In collaboration with many leading universities and research institutions at home and abroad, the University has won international recognition through its original research of great industrial potential.
Since "The Tenth Five-year Planning", hundreds of scientific and technological achievements of the university have won prizes. Among them, 25 won national science and technology awards, three have gained the honor of "Chinese University's Top Ten Scientific and Technological Development", 326 won provincial or ministerial science and technology awards, eight doctoral dissertations were named National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation and 383 have obtained patents, among which 312 are inventions. In 2001, the Science and Technology Park of TU became one of the 22 university sci-tech parks in China. A scientific research system consisting of basic research, applied research and R&D has been formed at the university.
Sticking to the motto of "Seeking Truth from Facts", our researchers are devoting themselves to knowledge advancement and expecting cooperation and exchanges with counterparts from home and abroad.
The university's annual amount of financial aid received from the National Natural Science Foundation always ranks top among China's engineering institutions of higher learning. |
