TU has one of the most active campus and community in China. Every student shows great respect and integrity toward one another. Students are actively involved in activities and social events on campus as there are over 180 groups and organizations in which to participate in. Some of the major organizations include:
• Student Union
The Student Union, the only registered and the largest student organization in TU, is committed to conveying reasonable opinions and suggestions by students and expressing the fundamental interests of the majority of students. The Student Union is also active with domestic and international brother institutions and all circles of the society. The Student Union consists of eight departments, which are the secretariat, the media information department, the organization federation, the equity department, the culture promotion department, the public relations department, the literary department, and the sports department.
• Student Association of Science and Technology
The Student Association of Science and Technology has always upheld the aim of creating a scientific atmosphere to enhance scientific quality and cultivate scientific talents. Through various forms of competition, the Association sets up innovative experiment bases for students to do research and launches various scientific activities among the students to create a general environment on campus whereby everybody loves science, studies science and uses science. At present, the association has 17 subordinate bodies distributed in independent departments and eight committees such as the English Club, the astronomy association, TIM laboratory, etc.
• Peiyang Arts Troupe
Peiyang Arts Troupe is one of the first comprehensive campus art troupes in China. The Troupe consists of nine art groups and organizations, including a Symphony Orchestra, a Chorus, a Military Band, a Folk Music Orchestra, a Dance Group, a Folk Art and Drama Group, a Shaoxing Opera Art Research Club, a Music Fans Association, and a Performing Center. Now it has developed into a large scale arts group with over 1000 members.With its efforts, not only has it enriched the artistic activities on campus, but several art courses have also been established, including music theory, vocal music, instrumental music, dance, talking and singing arts.
